Six Years, One Point Higher
Espolón's standard Añejo rests about a year; Añejo X went six — and picked up a proof point along the way, bottled at 82 rather than the line's usual 80. The result keeps the classic Espolón agave character but layers it: vanilla, nutmeg, white peppercorn, cocoa, bitter chocolate and roasted fruits over the familiar blue-agave core. The distillery itself — established in 1998 by Cirilo Oropeza and acquired by Campari in 2009 — draws its water from a well beneath the distillery floor in Los Altos.
