Cava de Oro Anejo Tequila is a 750mL tequila bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof), made from 100% Blue Weber agave by Tequilera Puerta de Hierro in El Arenal, Jalisco, and aged for two years in French white oak barrels — twice the one-year Anejo minimum. The long rest gives it a rich golden amber tone and a velvety body, the deepest expression of the house's core range. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

Two Years in French Oak, Twice the Anejo Minimum

An Anejo earns its name at one year; Cava de Oro gives its spirit two, in the same French white oak programme that shapes the whole range. The extra year is not about more wood — it is about integration: the honeyed, spiced barrel character and the cooked agave arrive together, in one velvety line, rather than in turns. It is the sipping end of the El Arenal house's range, short of only the five-year Extra Anejo. Explore the range on the Cava de Oro vendor page, or browse our tequila collection.

Tasting Notes

Per the brand: a generous mixture of honey, nutmeg, black pepper, caramel and roasted oak, the aromatics carried faithfully onto the palate, with vanilla, red plums and cinnamon arising through the long finish.

How to Enjoy

Neat in a stemmed glass as an after-dinner sipper, or over one large cube; it also makes a luxurious Anejo Old Fashioned. More aged tequilas are in our spirits collection.
