Lochlea 'Our Barley' Scotch Whisky

This single malt Scotch whisky is produced at Lochlea in South Ayrshire in the Lowlands region of Scotland. It is the distillery's core expression and is made with 100% malted barley grown on the Lochlea farm, distilled on custom Forsyths copper pot stills. The whisky does not have an age statement and is aged in a combination of ex-bourbon, sherry, and STR (shaved, toasted, recharred ex-red wine) barrels. It has a nose of chewy granola bar and peaches & cream oatmeal and a palate of ripe bananas, guava, and mint leaf, followed by a finish of cold-pressed olive oil. It is not chill filtered and has an ABV of 46%. Lochlea is a new, independently owned distillery that is making a strong statement with this luxurious and nuanced whisky.
