Kuleana Rum Works Hokulei Rum

A bit disappointing, considering it's reputation

I thought the Hokulei would be richer and more complex than Nanea, at half the price, but while Nanea is pleasant and drinkable, I found Hokulei a bit astringent. While the nose is pleasant, with vanilla and tropical notes, the palate is mild and less interesting with a finish that has ginger like astringency that I found overpowering. I hope this was just my bottle.
