This cask bottling, distilled in September 2009, spent 11 years maturing in a 1st fill Bourbon Hogshead. It was bottled at cask strength in October 2020 at 61% ABV. Cask #716153 yielded 265 bottles.
Color: Sauvignon Blanc
Nose: Heavy and damp barley notes to the fore like a malting floor on an oddly hot Scottish day. Fresh water chestnuts, red wax lips, three bean salad, cracked peppercorns, Bit-O-Honey™ chews, and Frosted Mini Wheats™. An unusual mix of scents but everything in its right place.
Palate: A celebration of grain with pear drops and lemon pinwheels but add to this notes of graham crackers and spiced chai tea. Sour candies, spiced gum drops, Lapsang Souchong tea without the smoke (if that were such a thing). The mouthfeel is generous with its oily texture.
Finish: Long lasting while putting a focus back on grain and gentle spice
