Laws Whiskey House Bonded Henry Road Straight Malt Whiskey
Laws Whiskey House is a fiercely independent Colorado distillery committed to producing the highest quality whiskey using local ingredients. Each batch is milled, cooked, fermented, distilled, and aged on-site, utilizing heirloom grains from family-owned Colorado farms. The practice of open-air, on-grain fermentation captures the essence of Colorado’s terroir while the copper pot/column still hybrid produces a robust, grain-forward style of whiskey.
The barley in this malt whiskey was literally kept from extinction. While commercial farmers found it too low yield, Wayne Cody found its unstripped flavor too glorious to dismiss. Today, his sons, in a field alongside Henry Road, continue to grow—as well as malt—this barley for Laws Whiskey House. This bonded whiskey made from 100% heirloom, malted barley was aged for over four years in new, 53-gallon charred oak. Aromas of apple blossom, honey, and toasted hazelnuts lead to flavors of green apple, sugar cookie, seagrass, and sweet tobacco. The finish is soft and bittersweet. 50% ABV
