Sweet apples, vanilla, and cinnamon

I ran across another single malt from Ireland that I thought I’d try. The Irishman opens with sweet apples, vanilla, and cinnamon. Next, enters the charred oak and black peppercorns. It has a very soft mouthfeel – like over-softened water – almost filmy in the mouth. The thin legs prove a rapid fade into a cereal-grain that is pretty common amongst Irish malts, then late in the finish, the dark chocolate fudge makes its appearance. Overall, it’s a bit sweet for me, but the dark chocolate finish is quite nice. Drink slow, drink long, drink a variety, drink often.
