These experimental, one-off combinations change vintage to vintage. In 2004, the Fantasia was comprised from 59% Sangiovese, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Zinfandel from the Soda Creek Ranch, Stags Leap District and Mt. George vineyards. The Sangiovese and Cab fruit character dominate here, with cherry and black currant fruit, vanilla bean, cinnamon and star anise spice. Medium to full-bodied, the wine has Sangiovese's firm acidity and its youthful, grippy tannins are starting to integrate. Delightful.
